Julie is well known in Rappahannock and surrounding communities for her work with Ki Theatre and for the Life Stories Workshops which she teaches. Over 350 people in the immediate five county areas have taken the workshops joining a diverse mix of farmers, lawyers, teachers, social workers, retirees, computer specialists, gardeners, librarians, artists, moms or dads who come from as far away as British Columbia and the Florida Keys to participate in the workshops. Some people who attend are professional writers and some people have never written a story before.
“The workshops I teach and the plays I write are all part of the same life-long passion I have for stories,” emphasized Portman.
