Reward rises to $3,000

in suspicious death in Culpeper

Whilfe investigators await toxicology and forensic lab results in the suspicious death last month of Sheryl Ann “Sherri” Warner, the reward fund has increased. Initially, Culpeper Crime Solvers offered a $1,000 reward to help provide information surrounding the case.

Since then, Dr. Robert Miller, a local dentist, added $1,000 to the reward fund, according to Nancy Garrett of Crime Solvers Norma Mayo, of Signature Real Estate, kicked in $500, asking other real estate companies to donate money or meet her company’s $500 donation.

Ms. Warner’s employer, attorney Elliott DeJarnette, also added $500 to the fund.

The total reward stands at $3,000. Ms. Warner was found dead in the basement of her smoke-filled James Madison Highway home about 8 p.m. on Dec. 18. She suffered a single “small caliber” gunshot wound to the head. She was also found hanging with an electrical cord around her neck. Firefighters extinguished a small fire beside her.

For more than two weeks, a task force of sheriff’s deputies and state police special agents have conducted interviews and collected evidence. Culpeper County Sheriff Lee Hart said lab results on collected evidence would help steer the investigation into the death of the 37-year-old mother of three school-aged children. The children were not home at the time.

Investigators still aren’t sure if Ms. Warner's death is murder or suicide. Anyone with information or wishing to donate money may contact Culpeper Crime Solvers at 727-0300. ~

Break Inn

At 4:30 a m. on December 30, a nighttime clerk at the Inn at Little Washington discovered two white male subjects in the Inn’s dining room.

When the clerk informed the two men that he was calling the police, they ran from the scene. There were signs of forced entry, but the Inn reported that nothing was stolen, according to the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Department.

The men were 5’3” and 6 feet tall respectively, and were both wearing flannel jackets.
