Headwaters helps
“Starfish’s modest program costs are 100 percent locally funded,” said Paige Coombs, Executive Director of Headwaters, which has administered the program since 2001. “It’s wonderful to live in a community where people step forward with time, energy, and funds for the benefit of all the children. Starfish is an “ounce-of-prevention” program—we’ll never know about all the costly and difficult interventions that were rendered unnecessary because a simple, effective strategy was put into place early on.”
Asked if she might be 0 mentor herself when she grows up, she responded with an emphatic, “Yes! It will be really fun to learn more about kids and see how they grow up. I would teach them lots of things!”
