Foundation, in collaboration with the county, hopes to preserve the building’s original appearance as much as possible, while attending to the needs of the proposed users. The county will retain ownership of the building and property.
In November, with the support of the Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board / Area Agency on Aging, the Foundation presented to the county Board of Supervisors its recommendation to rehab the building and grounds for primary use as the county’s Senior Center, with educational and interpretive displays included in the design. The supervisors approved the recommendation, enabling preliminary design work to begin and application for funds from various grants to proceed.
