Stock transfer agents are responsible for maintaining the records who actually owns shares in a company, and shepherding the transfer of stock form one owner to another. Large corporations like Disney have their own agents, smaller ones use companies like Pacwest. Meuse’s clients in all his businesses are mostly other companies located all over the US and Canada. He keeps in touch with them electronically, as opposed to waiting for them to walk in off the street.

“We get clients through word of mouth and referrals, so it’s not so much about where we’re located,” noted Meuse. The spread out nature of his clients is what allows Meuse to move so much business into Washington without changing the way he operates or the feel of the town.

‘Washington has been nice and understanding,” said Meuse.
