People who would like to go on one of the walks should sign up at the registration table at the Byrd Visitor Center 15 minutes before the beginning of the walk.
There will be six guided walks. An easy walk for families, along the Story of the Forest Nature Trail, will be 1.8 miles in length and will start at 9:30 am, 11:00 am, and 1:00 pm. Another easy walk will be a 2 mile walk on the Appalachian Trail, beginning at 9:45 am, 11:15 am, 12:45 pm, and 1:30 pm. A walk of moderate difficulty will be on the Dark Hollow Falls Trail, will be 1.4 miles in length, and will begin at 9:15 am, 10:30 am, 11:45 am, and 1:15 pm. A nature walk of moderate difficulty will be in the Booten Gap and Cat Knob area, 4.5 miles in length, and will begin at 10:00 am. A walk for which some hiking expertise is recommended will be on the Lewis Falls Trail, 3.0 miles in length, beginning at 9:30 am and 1:00 pm. The final walk is for walkers with some previous experience, on the Rose River L<x>p Trail, 6 miles in length, beginning at 9:45 am.
