Jeff Jenkins also praised Jonathan Butler for his excellent play in left field. Butler spent most of the spring with the junior varsity baseball team.
In the fifth, Rappahannock went up, 7-1. Sharp and Jason Jenkins each singled. Dodson reached base on an infield error, which allowed Sharp to score. Another error allowed Tupper to reach base and Jenkins to score. Dodson eventually scored on a passed ball.
Dodson closed out Rappahannock’s scoring with a two-run, home ran in the sixth. Russell led off the inning with a single and stole second. After a pair of outs, Dodson homered.
Jeff Jenkins said that the offensive punch Rappahannock showed was something that was very much needed.
“Everybody hit the ball hard today for us,” he said, pointing out that the first six batters in the Rappahannock lineup had hits.
