and Little Screech, sitting in the tree, and that evening, Linda went down to check, and saw both of them still sitting in the tree, and two little heads sticking out of the hole in the maple. Linda said the two little guys sank back down out of sight just as she noticed them.
The adults appear to be more in the gray phase than the brown, as my book talks about both colors. But to me, they look exactly like a miniature version of a great homed owl. They have the perfect little ear tufts, the V pattern down between their eyes to their beak, and the distinctive side bar under the ear. They are just gorgeous.
Sunday, I saw the little guys peeking out of the nest. They are little gray fuzz balls, with big yellow eyes. And, they were jostling one another a bit. I think it is getting crowded in the old home place.
We are trying to leave them alone and give them as much privacy as we can, but, needless to say, we are delighted with the new guests in
