Several months ago when I heard that my sister Lolita was having her first art opening I decided that I would fly out to Oregon and surprise her by showing up unannounced at her show.

It was held a couple of Saturdays ago at the White Sturgeon Gallery located in Vancouver, Washington which is roughly across the Columbia River from Portland, Oregon, my hometown.

I arrived the night before and spent a luxurious evening alone in a Sheraton Hotel room with a king size bed and at least six pillows.

I dined alone in their quiet restaurant with a man playing Moon River on the piano. It was the perfect background for my seafood bisque and fresh fish and a glass of excellent chardonnay.

The next morning I donned a new dress for the occasion, rented a car, located the gallery and with time to spare decided that WuSan and Larry’s Cantina was the place for lunch. It was the day after
