And the reason that the tank's not in the ground is because the supervisors have been holding off installation until they receive assurance that there will be gas available to fill it.

Buntin reported that local distributers think the energy department will give Rappahannock the extra As allotment if the county tmt installs the storage tank. “I’m not sure but I think our chances would improve,” Buntin told the supervisors on Thursday.

With the steady increase in gasoline prices, interjected H. B. Wood, the sheriff s department won’t save any money by purchasing gasoline in bulk.

’’We’re not interested in saving money but in having the gas available," Buntin countered.

Luke maintained that the county could make a case supporting the extra allotment on the grounds that health, safety and welfare would be adversely affected if the sheriffs department can’t get adequate gas.
