Residents of the town of Washington will have to decide at a public hearing if they want the county’s planning commission involved in the town’s planning process.
At last Thursday's meeting of the Rappahannock supervisors, chairman E. P. Luke announced that an earlier resolution from the town council, requesting that the county’s comprehensive plan also serve as the town’s, was insufficient.
According to Luke, the county planners will automatically become planners for the town if the county’s comprehensive plan serves both. Since this is the case. Luke said, the proposal must be advertised by the Washington Town Council and voted on following a public hearing as in any ordinance change. “It has its advantages and disadvantages," Luke continued, noting that the county planners will have to
