Although Casanova is offering optimum time as well as fastest time in its hunter pace event, the threeway pair race championship will go to the two riders coming closest to the optimum time, previously decided by the hunt committee on the basis of the time it takes to complete the course at a good safe hunting pace.
Pairs must be members of the same recognized hunt and must “have fairly hunted during the current season." The course is three miles over natural hunting country.
No schooling is allowed at Casanova but the course may be walked in advance. Casanova's pair race is The Longwood, starting at 10:30 a.m.
The pair race is the first on each hunt's point-to-point agenda and is the event where spectators can watch persons compete who hunt regularly.
It is not necessary to compete in all three hunt’s pair races to win the pair race championship, but it is advised. In each race, six points will go to the winn&s, four to second place, three to third, two to fourth and one point to everyone who finishes.
