The Treasury Department says the new Series EE savings bonds, which went on sale effective January 1, will be called United States Energy Savings Bonds, Series EE, and will recieve a lA percent bonus if held to maturity.

The interest rate on U. S. Energy Savings Bonds, Series EE, will be increased from 6. 5 percent to 7 percent for bonds held for the 11 years to maturity.
