The machinist shop at Piedmont contains equipment worth close to a million dollars. Lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, heat ovens, band saws—all are borrowed from the federal government inr a lend-lease program.
“We run a full-fledged machinist program,” said Bodine, pointing out beautifully crafted letters made in the shop for a sign at the front of the school. “There’s a tremendous demand for the students from Piedmont with machinist training,” he added.
