Rappahannock Panthers played their last varsity game of the regular season on Tuesday and were outhustled, 75-70, by the Strasburg Rams. Despite the loss, however. RCHS will still qualify for the Skyline District Tournament, scheduled to begin on Wednesday. February 20.
The Panthers took an early lead on a Gary Leake bucket but were quickly shot down by the Rams’ aggressive play. Strasburg tried several long, dangerous passes and managed to make them, topping RCHS 20-8 in the first quarter.
Rappahannock couldn’t keep up with the Rams’ reckless style of basketball. The Panthers began to fight in the second quarter but were down by 15 before they got started. Rappahannock outscored Strasburg 22-18 in the period but still trailed 3830 at the end of the half.
