The Birds drove him back into the capital for dinner at one of Washington’s finest Japanese restaurants. “I didn’t expect to have such a good Japanese meal here,” he exlaimed, beaming another wide smile.
He’s also visited Front Royal. Purcellville in Loudoun County and a solar house in Standardsville. One of the highlights of his stay so far was a trip to the University of Virginia at Charlottesville. Minoru was impressed with the classical beauty of Mr. Jefferson's campus. “I would love to study at that University. It didn't appear like the universities we have in Japan. I’m surprised the buildings are so very beautiful.”
Minoru lives in Ushitsu, a small resort town on a penninsula facing the Japanese Sea. He and his wife are both educators.
