from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, and from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Park personnel will be present at the Camp to assist visitors and answer questions as they tour the buildings and grounds.
Special guided hikes to Camp Hoover will leave from the visitor center at 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Saturday and at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. Participants must be prepared to walk over 3 miles to the Camp and are advised to wear comfortable walking shoes. Hikers can continue the guided hike back to the visitor center or return on one of the buses. Individual hikers can reach the Camp on their own using any of several trails.
President Hoover purchased the land for the Camp in 1929 and used the area, then called “Camp Rapidan,” as a weekend retreat or “Summer White House” during his term of office.
