Fauquier; from 1.9 to 2.0 in Madison and from 2.3 to 2.8 in Orange.
Fauquier led in clearance rates with 45.20 percent of crimes cleared in 1980 followed by Culpeper with 38.5 percent. Orange with 32.3 percent and Madison with 20.30 percent.
For the planning district as a whole, larceny was the most common crime with 1,144 offenses reported. It also had the lowest clearance rate, 29.9 percent. Value of property stolen in larcenies, motor vehicle thefts, burglaries and robberies amounted to $958,047 in the five PD-9 counties.
Murder^ and nonnegligent manslaughter cases in the five counties for 1980 totalled 13 with 107.7 percent cleared; forcible rapes 15 with 93.3 percent cleared; robberies 14 with 50 percent cleared; aggravated assaults 82 with 90.2 percent cleared; burglaries 679 with 35.8 percent cleared and motor vehicle thefts 53 with 43.4 percent cleared.
