Call Contest
The seventh annual Virginia State and MidAtlantic Turkey Calling Contest has been scheduled for Sunday, October 4, at the James Wood High School off Route 50 west of Winchester. The exhibit area will open at 8:30 a.m. with registration for the contest beginning at 9:30.
The 1981 event will include. in addition to the contest, a seminar and demonstration by the Rohm Brothers from Blain, Pa., both of whom are former National Champions, and a variety of exhibits including turkey calls and hunting equipment.
There will be a panel discussion featuring the authors of three recently published books about the wild turkey. They include Bob Clark from Mechanicsburg, Pa., John Lowther from Lost Creek, W. Va., and John McDaniel of Lexington.
The Virginia State Champinship contest will commence at 11 a.m. with the Mid-Atlantic portion of the event scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
