Catron, a Democrat, has taught vocational agriculture at Luray High School for 17 years. He’s presently serving his second term on the Page County Board of Supervisors. He is a member of the Lord Fairfax Planning District Commission and served two years as the commission’s chairman.
Catron, 49, also owns the Beef Baron restaurant outside Luray.
He said that it is his experience with local government that has led to his consideration of the Delegate spot. “I’d like to see some kind of coordination between local and state government,” he said. “I think I’m well qualified to help start a closer relationship because of my experience here.”
Catron calls himself a “progressive conservative” but noted that his consideration for seeking the office is fairly new so he hasn’t put together much of an organization yet. “In fact, Lynda Robb is campaigning at my restaurant this week,” he said. “Unfortunately, I’ll be out of town.”
