Lack of space for the school year that begins in September demands a short term solution, she said, suggesting that a special committee be formed to develop and bring before the school board alternatives for meeting immediate space needs.
She also suggested that the tremendous amount of talent and skills in the county be organized and used as a nocost resource for Rappahannock's educational programs.
It was pointed out that Rappahannock had the lowest true tax rate in the state last year while it ranked fifth in ability to pay for education. This gap between ability and effort as perceived by the state reduces the amount of state funding for education received by the county.
