What it doesn't mean is pushing responsibility off onto other shoulders, he continued. “I accepted the superintendency and in doing so, 1 accepted a position of leadership, not followership...But 1 need the support of the team if we're going to succeed.”
In response to Estabrook's call for high standards, Sean Kilpatrick noted that the school board has failed to show a similar commitment to quality by its repeated refusal to deal with the high school's space shortage.
‘‘I definitely think the Rappahannock school system can provide more of the space so desperately needed so that our teachers have at least a fighting chance at teaching...We’ve got a bunch of good teachers doing a tremendous job in spite of the hurdles and roadblocks in front of them, lo these so many years. We just can't convince the school board to bulldoze those hurdles out of the way.”
