He acknowledged, however, that there "may be loopholes in laws which need plugging or tightening” to enable a local government’s decision on uranium mining or any other land use issue to withstand a challenge in courts of law.
Catron stressed that his position on uranium mining doesn't mean he isn’t interested in protecting the environment. "I’m a supporter of a clean environment. I’m a supporter of planning districts which I understand Mr. Guest isn’t,” the Democratic candidate said.
