Both candidates for attorney general have waged a low-key, gentlemanly campaign which has resulted in a large number of undecided votes in this critical race both in Fauquier County and the state.
But one of the candidates is by far the most experienced and the best qualified to serve in the state’s top law enforcement post. The best man for the job is Gerald L. Baliles, the Democratic candidate.
Mr. Baliles already has spent eight years in the attorney general’s office. From 1967 to 1972 he served as assistant attorney general specializing in problems with natural resources, conservation and economic development—issues which are of vital importance to voters in the coming decade.
