First Too Costly , The first sewage treatment system designed for Sperryville was rejected by the WSA as too expensive when cost projections came in far over the available grant funding, a second alternative—a mound leach system on the WSA’s five acres on the outskirts of the village—was recently rejected by the health department and State Water Control Board both on the grounds that high waters in Sperryville’s flood plain could render the system inoperable as much as 20 percent of the time. The WSA is now working with engineers on a third choice, a small package treatment plant. In addition to design proposals, the engineers will present options on financing the project at the required public hearing tentatively set for January, 1982, Dennis reported. “There’s a question whether the county as a ' whole will want to subsidize i it—that’s another issqp,” he. a added. >
