Catron believes that the answer to many of the budgetary problems facing Virginia localities lies in attracting new industries.
“I will work with those localities, boards of supervisors, industrial commissions and town councils that want industrial development. I will be their direct link to the State Industrial Comihission and I will assist them in locating industrial prospects,” he pledged.
“Page County wants industry because it wants to broaden its tax base. It wants to help pay for the education of the children of those 2,500 people who commute out of the county every day . . . Localities need help in selling themselves to industrial prospects. I plan on giving them that help,” Catron concluded.
