Cadet William C. Nichols of Flint Hill, was among more than 200 Virginia Military Institute first classmen graduated in commencement . exercises May 15.

Cadet Nichols, a civil engineering major, received a bachelor of science degree and a commission as an ensign in the U. S. Navy. He will report to the Naval Nuclear Power School in Orlando, Florida, for further training.

Cadet Nichols was a member of the VMI chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the VMI water polo team. During his cadetship he held a Navy ROTC scholarship.
