THE Rappahannock
County Budget was
released showing total expenditures at $1,913,713, up $147,097 from 1976, with the largest increase in the budget coming in the area of general funds for different public offices.
Crop predictions were down due late frost damage in Rappahannock County and throughout the state. This damage was expected to significantly reduce the year’s apple harvest. County orchardists heard predictions on justhow much was lost. That loss was discussed at a meeting in George Sharp’s orchard.
The question of subdividing Charles Goods’ land to form the Mountain Slopes subdivision was addressed by the county Planning Commission. The question was not as to whether the subdivision would comply with ordinances but rather whether the land should be rezoned from agriculture to residential.
