Park Camping
Fees Increased
The 1982 campground fee ' for Shenandoah National Park will be $5.00 per she, per night. Big Meadows Campground is open now with Mathews Arm and Loft Mountain Campgrounds to open May 7, and Lewis Mountain Campground to open May 21.
“This increase is the first for camping since 1979, and is a result of a study conducted of campgrounds around the Park in late 1981,” Superintendent Robert Jacobsen stated. “We want our fees to be comparable to those charged in the vicinity of the Park."
The Big Meadows Campground will be one of the campgrounds in seven national parks on a reservation system.
