The awards were announced and given out at the annual Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs’ convention held recently in Richmond.
They were presented by Mrs. Edward A. Hennessy, state president, and received by Mrs. Joseph Nordone, president of the Rappahannock club.
The two awards for flower show achievement, purple ribbon rosettes with certificates, were from the Virginia Federation and the National Council of State Garden Clubs, Inc.
The national award had been announced earlier at the Council's convention in California.
Local club members who put so much time and effort into making The Garden Gate Swings Wide a success were overjoyed with the recognition.
