Why hadn’t Konick advised advertising then?

“I just thought of it,” he told the board.

Bird apologized to McBride for having to wait through the afternoon saying he was “sorry we misled you. I guess you should reapply.”

The cases of two residents who were not present at the meeting were then considered. The board had inspected the Donald Porter property near Pine Knot off Route 211 the day before. They agreed that he should be granted a variance to build a single family dwelling at least 50 feet from his rear property line and as centrally located as possible.

Bird said the topography could be considered an undue hardship because of its slope. The variance was approved unanimously with Peter Kramer abstaining because he was not present for the inspection.

The board delayed any decision on a request from Dale M. Davis of Amissville until he could meet with them to discuss his application. Davis requested a variance to build a carport within three feet of his property line near Route 645.

Davis had sent a letter explaining that he wanted to attach the carport to the entrance of his home. However, the board members decided to invite him to their October 12 meeting to see if it would pose a hardship on him to build the carport on another portion of the property.

Having set the next session for 9 a.m., October 12, the sweltering members adjourned at 5:40 p.m.
