Supervisors Wood made a motion not to advertise since the percent is lower than it was last year when the board also decided that it woud not be cost-efficient to advertise. The motion passed unanimously.
A transfer of funds from the school system to the county treasurer was intended to comply with a new state law.
Superintendent Robert Estabrook explained that cafeteria and text book accounts now need to be in the custody of the county treasurer and a vote was needed from the board,to place the money under county control.
Estabrook added that there should be no shortfall in the funds; that the cafeteria, with a fund balance of $13,785.69, should continue to be self-sustaining.
The high school has a text account of $31,270.65. The account at the elementary school comes to $32,989.06.
Audience member Robert Eastham pointed out that warrants will now be necessary to transfer any of the money from the treasurer’s office, an observation with which no one disagreed.
An appropriation to make up for what was described as a budget oversight granted $4,000 to the commissioner of revenue to pay land use program personnel.
Those people are not covered by the board of compensation which pays the rest of the office staff.
Supervisors had made the same oversight in approving the budget the year before and voted unanimously to appropriate the money.
