to drawing and painting. “I needed to do work that came from within me," she said, touching her heart. “Not work that was dependant on anything or anybody else. Then I discovered 1 could combine it all,” Marshall explained, flashing a broad smile. “Things just evolved.
“1 met these people I liked,” she said, remembering her job as a van driver with the senior citizen nutrition site. “1 got involved with them. I involved them with art. And now I have my masters degree in community art.”
Marshall makes it all sound so easy hut the master’s thesis, like the journals she has kept for 11 years, didn’t just happen. Her thesis is the result of hours and hours and hours spent thinking, planning, helping, sharing, teaching, writing, drawing and organizing. It’s no dry and scholarly work.
