Looking back over the past year, administrators say they have been extremely active. They worked with 12 colleges, high schools apd other architectural institutions to coordinate the program.
They held four open houses with 200 participants. They received donations from the community in equipment, materials and money. They taught 70 students in the various sessions. They contacted area civic groups to teach the public more about their program and contacted architectural schools across the country to let others know of SPECTRA’S existence. They lent the facilities to two local art teachers for spring and summer field work.
On a more legal front, they obtained a special use permit. They assembled a nationally recognized Board of Advisors. They obtained tax-exempt status. They developed a fee schedule and various contractual arrangements to allow as many students as possible to participate. They have applied to a private foundation for a $10,000 grant.
The next course at SPECTRA will be offered September 23-25.
