Jail Report
Architect Hunter Spencer reported on progress with the jail construction.
Spencer had been asked to make a comparison study on the asphalt bid. He returned with the news that he had checked bids on the parking lot at the new Precious Blood Church in Culpeper and found that the parking lot here had cost less. While part of the higher price in Culpeper reflected considerable grading work that was done, Spencer said the asphalt price Rappahannock received compared favorably and he recommended payment.
Otherwise, Spencer said the project was "coming along very well” but that contractors were waiting for door frames, hardware, and electronic locks.
“I feel he’s doing an excellent job,” Spencer said of the contractor. “He’s had lots of problems but I feel like he’s giving us a good job.”
Spencer said he expected everything to be finished by October.
Supervisor Estes moved to table another building matter that the board felt needed more thought and study.
