freshmen John Dodson and David Fishbein. “They did real well staying up with the big guys,” she said, pointing to Dodson’s time of 17:5(5 for 23rd and Fishbein’s 18:11 for 25th. With 51 runners completing the course, both finished in the top half.
Rappahannock’s Karen Ludwick, the only Lady Panther running on Thursday, covered the 2.7 miles in 20:50, second out of ten girls competing in the quad-meet.
Also finishing the race for RCHS were Jonathon Watson (18:41), David Dod-' son (19:01), Marc Streagle (20:47) and John Ranev (21:08).
The final tallies were Rappahannock 34, Warren 47, Luray 56 and Clarke 136.
Despite the high temperature and humidity, there were no problems with heat exhaustion from the race. One potential confrontation was avoided, however, when spectators cleared the course of cattle that wrere milling around the finish line before the runners approached.
Next Wednfesday, September 21, Rappahannock’s harriers w ill take on Manassas Park in a home meet that begins at 4:30.
