Tommy loved his gifts. He received lots of nice little ugly monsters for his birthday. Nancy can’t understand all the appeal the young people these days have for such strange beasts, but after all, Tommy was one of the kids in the summer G&T program who were painting the people eaters purple and designing monster T-shirts, monster wanted posters, and sculpting creatures from the flora from around the elementary school. Most of the aliens were really quite loveable.

And after all, as Aunt Michele (and quite a few other folks) always say, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” Why, she thinks that ugly ornery cat of hers is the most gorgeous animal in the world. And didn’t she just tell Joe Boucher the other day that he was more handsome than Conway Twitt.v?
