According to Thornhill, there has been a 40-80 percent corn loss this year with additional livestock feeding problems. Stunted corn has high levels of nitrate which leads to possible nitrate poisoning if used for feed. Some farmers are already using winter feeds because there was no second cutting of grass. They suffer additional hardship bv trying to sell the animals in a depressed cattle market.

Thornhill added that peaches and other fruit are suffering a 35-40 percent sizing decrease this year.

Thornhill asked that the county seek any available drought aid.
