Other Wakefield winners in the Latin Tournament included Lisa Larimer, Grade 9, and Rae Marie Lutes, Grade 10, Magna Cum Laude, Latin I; Carolyn Shaw, Grade 8, Cum Laude, Latin II; and Jeffrey Beam, Grade 8, Honorable Mention, Latin II Classical Essay.

For the performance of its students in the tournament, Wakefield was among five private schools in Virginia to receive a specialschool award. The other schools were the North Cross School, Broadwater Academy, St. Catherine’s School, and Norfolk Academy.

Seven Wakefield students received the second place silver Maxima Cum Laude medals in the American Classical League’s 1984 National Latin Examination. Medal winners included Carolyn Shaw, Gwin von Ludwig and Mary Jo Lawrence, Latin II; Sean Bennett, Lisa Larimer, Sau Chan and Mary Beth Bayne, Latin I.
