In the American Classical League’s National Greek Examination, nine Wakefield students, competing against 685 American and Canadian high-school and college students, won awards. For answering 3034 of the 40 exam questions correctly, sophomores Tara Welty and Larry Tarr won the prestigious red ribbon prizes. Green ribbons (26-29 correct answers) went to Sau Chan, T.J. Hegerich, Britney Lee, Meera Maheswaren, Bill Meuse, Melissa Mills and Jeffrey Vail.
Competing in the fourth level of Le Grand Concoura, the National French Examination for high school students, Wakefield 7th graders Tobias Dengel, Jennifer Anderson, and Jeff Rozic won 3rd, 8th, and 10th places respective^ in the state. Ninth graders Katie Botaford and Karen Vqda won 7th and 8th places respectively in the fourth level In the sixth level, Wakefield junior Mary Jo Lawrence won 7th place in the state, and 10th grader Sau Chan won 9th. All of the winners are students of Mrs. Donnatienne von Ludwig, chairman of Wakefield’s French department.
