Bankston. Sixteen have been killed in the Virginia counties of Shenandoah, Page, Augusta and Rockingham since last September, he noted. The animals are not all that rare, Bankston said, noting that Pennsylvania has an estimated coyote population of5.000.
The game warden added that the coyote is not the barnyard kfller that most people envision.
Bankston cautioned against shooting at something suspected of being a coyote. “People start doing that and we’re going to have a lot of dead dogs around here,” he concluded.
