To help raise ftmds U build a new kennel, the Rap pahannoek Hunt sponsored its traditional spring trai ride last Sunday with at added attraction: “The Great 1984 ChiU Cookoff, Pie and Cookie content.’ The event drew 75 horset and riders, and a sizeable gathering of picnickers tc Montpelier , gathering site oi the festivities.
All cookoff contest entries were received before the ride, which began around 11 a.m. The mounted participants took off for a three hour jaunt up, down and around the beautiftil foothills that wedge the F. ’ T. Valley.
Meanwhile, a diligent crew logged, organized and tended impressive numbers of pots of spicy chib, plates of cookies and pie after pie. Judges gave each the taste test and made difficult selections. The identities of the contestants were unknown.
