Edythe C. “Edie” Harrison has always been interested in “issues,” but it wasn’t until she had trouble registering to vote as a young woman that she got involved in politics.
“Politics is what decides everyshe

n’t eat; if, when or where wars are fought; who lives and who dies—it’s all politics.”
“And if you want to be part of the decision making, you better be involved.”
Harrison, a self-described “professional volunteer” who lives in Norfolk, has gotten involved in politics in a big way this year, running as the Democratic Party’s nominee for the United States Senate.
It has not been an easy race so far for Harrison, 60, a former state legislator who is low cm name recognition and money but high on enthusiasm.
