Hie Opening Meet of the Rappahannock Hunt Club at Stonehaven October 27, which marks the beginning of the ’84-’85 season, also was marked by summer-like temperatures that soared into the 80’s. On a day where not-so-Autumn-like heat dried the scent of fox too quickly, spirits didn’t dissipate; about 100 members and guests gathered for the festivities on the bright, clear, Saturday morning.
It was the thirtieth year ceremonies took place at Stonehaven, home of Mr. and Mrs. George Muth. Comprising the field were about 36 member and guest riders. Thirtyone hounds, 10 of them in their first year, led the pack of fifteen-andone-half couples.
Visitor-guests in the audience came from as far away as West Germany, Mr. Muth noted. Guests also came from California and Florida.
Opening Meet ceremonies began with welcoming remarks made by Mr. Muth and Rappahannock Hunt Club Joint Masters Bernie Dahlgren and Lefty LeHew. The Blessing of the Hounds followed.
