He said there were exceptions: The U.S. should stand by countries such as Grenada and El Salvador.
“Sit down, shut up and keep your feet off the furniture” is the Way Frazier would negotiate with the Soviets, he said. “Reagan understands what we’re up against.”
Frazier said he would not use food as a strategic weapon. “I think if we have it to sell it should be sold. (Food) is about the only thing on which we get a return.”
In regard to import quotas on automobiles and steel, Frazier said he would impose strict ones to protect American jobs. “We must realize the mindset of the Japanese. They still look at America as the John Waynes of the universe ” he said.
