Wakefield and Notre Dame were facing each other for the second time this season; the earlier matches had bbth ended in unsatisfactory 1-1 ties. While both teams were determined to break the deadlock with a victory, the Hooters’ drive and determination payed off.

In the varsity match, the Notre Dame girls scored a goal within the first five minutes of play. Later in the first half, the Hooters evened up the score and the tie held well into the second half. Finally, Wakefield’s Nancy Massie scored her second goal of the day, and the varsity game ended with Wakefield’s winning 2-1.

The junior varsity team, encouraged by the varsity win, defeated Notre Dame 1-0. Beginning player Chris Bronson scored Wakefield’s goal.

Hockey Coach Barbara Todd is very proud of her girls, but sayB that the play was no less than she expected all year.
