In the first overtime period, neither team was able to produce a goal. In the second overtime, the Owls took the kick off and scored right away.
The victory was by far the Owls’s biggest and most exciting of the season. An all-conference team will be named later as well as most valuable player of the tournament.
Coach Ulrich Maeyer of the Owls said that Saturday’s game was definitely “real competition”, and he is justifiably proud of his team’s performance.
Last week, Wakefield’s varsity and junior varsity field hockey teams, The Hooters, journeyed to Middleburg to face Notre Dame Academy; and won a varsity match for the first time in the team’s history.
