To help the pigs gain as much weight as possible, Irving and Joyce start them off with pig pellets and then switch to fattening feed. Feeding records have to be kept for each pig for the project. “It’s hard work and fun, too,” Irving said.
“The experience teaches the children a lot of responsibility,” said Irving and Joyce’s mother, Lois.
