Volunteer Training
Training for one-on-one volunteers for the Women’s Abuse Shelter will be held on April 22, 25, 29 and May 2 from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Oneon-one volunteers are trained to provide direct services to battered women and their children.
Topics covered will be the social and psychological dynamics of spouse abuse, values clarification: counseling skills for volunteers working with battered women, community resources and shelter operations and le'ial issues related to domestic violence.
C .rent W.A.S. volunteers are invited to attend any session as a “refresher” course. The sessions will be held at the W.A.S. office at 102 N. Main Street, Room 23 (second floor above The Comer Shelf and Kezebo) in Culpeper.

Food Bank Open House
The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank is celebrating its third anniversary of operation with an Open House on Saturday, April 20 from 11 a. m. until 2 p.m.
Open Houses will be held at each of three Food Bank locations: the main office and warehouse at 818 Richmond Road in Staunton; the Lord Fairfax branch at 712 N. Kent Street, Winchester; and the Thomas Jefferson branch on Route 250 Bypass in the Mclntire School Building, Charlottesville.
The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank is a non-profit agency serving 18 counties and seven cities in the Shenandoah Valley and surrounding areas. The Food Bank collects surplus, edible food, which would otherwise be wasted, from a variety of sources, and distributes this food to non-profit agencies that serve the needy.
The Open House has been planned to honor all those who have given vital support to the Food Bank, and who have donated generous gifts such as food, equipment, time and money.
