The U.S. economy is based on a competitive marketplace with working partnerships existing between consumers, business and education. The two main reasons for the success of this partnership are the growing sophistication of the American consumer and the recognition by business that consumer education is good business.

Consumers are being asked to learn their rights and use them to become adept buyers and users. Persons have to educate themselves and their families on how to use their incomes effectively, the same as they did in learning to make money.

The local Extension staff is ready to help those interested in becoming efficient consumers with programs and publications that are geared toward improving the quality of life.

However, it is up to the consumer to seek this information.
